「那覇の台所」牧志公設市場が老朽化のため建て替え。営業終了前にもう一度行ってみた。

2019年6月16日に建て替えのため、現在の建物での営業を一時終了する「那覇の台所」牧志公設市場。

僕は那覇の人間ではないので、そこまで馴染みがありません。

しかし、それでも終了と聞くと何だか寂しくなるのはなぜでしょうか。

 

僕の記憶が正しければ、初めて牧志公設市場を訪れたのは今から23年前。

多分、父の仕事で一緒に訪れたのが最初だったと思います。

小4の時に神奈川から沖縄に引っ越してきた僕は、本土とは違う沖縄の異国感に毎日が驚きの連続でした。

その中でも、一番記憶に残ってるのが牧志公設市場。

 

多くの人が行きかい、活気にあふれる市場。

今まで見たことないような色の魚や、豚の顔がそのまま置かれていて、

と衝撃を受けたことを覚えています。

 

農連市場や波布食堂など、ここ数年で閉店・再開発が相次ぐ沖縄の昔ながらの市場や食堂。

建物の老朽化や店主のご年齢を考えると仕方のないことなのですが、それでも少し寂しいですね。

農連市場も波布食堂もどちらも営業終了前に行けなかったので、今回は閉鎖前の牧志公設市場に行ってきました。
